For those waiting for my “series” on starting a recruitment agency yourself, please allow me for some time. I have been in and out the country, and I am not one of the professional bloggers that count with having to post a new line every day. I promise I will get back on the topic soon.
However, given the little time I have at the moment, and not wanting to be “too late”, I would like to point your attention to my friend Dave Mendoza and his famous blog sixdegreesfromdave.com Dave is one of those guys that dó pre-craft their posts and release them every day, even when they are travelling, like I found out when he visited my country in december. Why the special attention? Well, his blog seems to really take off at the moment. On 22nd of januari it was announced that it had won the “Best Recruiting Blogs of the Year” awards in two categories. One being the “overall best recruiting blog of the year 2007″ and the other win was for “Best recruiting industry blog”. He won a trip to Vegas, for which he then invited me to join him there. So, that kind of friendship really cannot do without recognition. The win was also announced on ZoomInfo Having seen the incredible dedication to the subject and to creating really high-Q content, it no miracle and really well-deserved that Dave has gotten all this recognition.
For people who do not know Dave and are Dutch: Dave is a master cybersleuth, which means that he is a specialist in the magic of Internet sourcing. He used to be one of the “new-breed” of recruiters in the US, but as I found out, he is my age. That :), and the fact that he has made his breakthrough as one of the industries prominent thought leaders on internet sourcing, the use of on line social networks and recruitment, must mean that he is no longer “new-breed”. One cannot argue that Dave has become one of the most influential people in the business over the last two years. And he looks a lot better than me of course…
For those not familiar with Cybersleuth’s and their trade, but that dó know Rise and Ricardo Risamasu, Dave is the global and US equivalent of what Ricardo does in the European markets. Otys have just announced a partnership with Rise on recruitment education services having to do with this topic and are proud to be “friends of Dave” and members of his community.
The even happier news is: Dave loves Holland. Therefore, in between his really busy schedule, if he can find the time to visit us, he will probably give it a try. As for me personally, Dave is becoming a really good friend and I have gotten to know him over the last months as a really hands-on kind of guy. He really gets busy when he is inspired and does his work at incredible speed and with impossible quality. If any of you would like to get in contact with Dave through personal introduction, please let me know. Or just visit his blog and contact the guy himself…
I would like to congratulate Dave with the win. Promise I’ll try to get to Vegas to celebrate ![]()
